Where are you from? (Part II)

First, let’ me teach you two new words:

English	Arabic	Pronunciation
Where	فين / أين
From	من

As we know, we do not pronounce verb “Be” in present. So, when we want to say: Where are you from? (SM), we will say it like that:

انت من فين؟         

Often, we merge and shrink the two words “من فين” to become “منين”, and the question will be like this:

انت منين؟            

I think you know how to answer this question, but let me give you some examples:

Where are you from? (SF)	انتى من فين؟ / انتى منين؟
I am from Egypt.	انا من مصر
Where is she from?	هى من فين؟ / هى منين؟
She is from USA.	هى من أمريكا
Where are they from?	هم من فين؟ / هم منين؟
They are from Italy.	هم من إيطاليا

What if you asked me and said: Where is Egypt?

Egypt is located in Africa.	مصر تقع في أفريقيا

Note: The first answer “مصر في أفريقيا” is more common.

Note: “Located” is “تقع”, and “In” is “فى”
