Professions

What do you do? ……. I am a teacher.

There are a lot of professions in this world. Some of them are good and the others are not.

Let’s take a look at some of job titles:

After we knew some of professions, we should know the places where these professions are:

As we do not write or pronounce the verb “Be” when it comes after a question word in present tense, we do the same with the verb “Do”.

So, when I want to say: “what do/does ….?” I will say it like this: “ايه ...؟”. Is that clear? I hope so.

By the way, the verb “Do” is “يعمل / يشتغل” in Arabic. I will teach you the verbs later.

Now, it is time to apply all that practically:

Here are some responses:

Remember: the verb “Work” is “يشتغل”, and the preposition “In” is “فى”.

Remember: Sometimes we do not pronounce the personal pronouns in slang.

I am a doctor. I work in a hospital.

انا دكتور. انا بشتغل في مستشفى. / دكتور. بشتغل في مستشفى                    

She is a teacher. She works in a school.

هى مدرسة. هى بتشتغل في مدرسة / مدرسة. بتشتغل في مدرسة             

We are farmers. We work in a farm.

احنا فلاحين. احنا بنشتغل فى مزرعة / فلاحين. بنشتغل في مزرعة        

They are police officers. They work in a police station.

همَّ ظباط شرطة. همَّ بيشتغلوا في قسم شرطة

ظباط شرطة. بيشتغلوا في قسم شرطة                                              

               

Remember: As you see, I added the letter “ب” before the verb “يشتغل”. We often do that in present tense with all verbs in slang.

Remember: We add the two letters “وا” at the end of the verb with the pronouns “you” (Plural) and “they”, but when we pronounce them, we just pronounce the letter “و”.
